Frequently asked questions about your Progress Lifeline service
Progress Lifeline enables you to call for help or reassurance at the touch of a button.
It’s a small unit which connects to your existing phone line and a personal alarm that can be worn round your neck, on your wrist or clipped to your clothing.
When you press either the unit by your phone or the pendant alarm, you will connect to our friendly team in the Control Centre.
Our team is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The Progress Lifeline pendant alarm unit is easy to use and provides the reassurance of assistance 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
The unit is wirelessly connected to a pendant or wristband.
By pressing the red button on the pendant or wristband you will automatically be connected to one of our experienced control centre operators who will take the most appropriate action to help e.g. contact the emergency services, a family member or friend.
The pendant is waterproof with a range of 50 metres so if help is needed outside the home, for example in the garden, pressing the pendant will alert the response centre that you may be in need of assistance.
A Progress Lifeline installer will visit your home at an agreed time to install your chosen Progress Lifeline package and show you how it works.
We understand that every customer’s needs are unique, which is why we offer no obligation trials of all our sensors and no minimum contract.
We offer assessments and home visits, as required, throughout your time with us to ensure that the sensors you have selected are continuing to meet your needs.
We will keep in regular contact with you to discuss your experiences of the service and ensure that you are continuing to benefit from it; you can cancel any part of the service at any time.
Should you ever need us we are only ever the push of a button away 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Progress Lifeline is available to anyone who feels like they would benefit from the peace of mind that Progress Lifeline provides; you do not have to be over a certain age or meet certain eligibility criteria.
Progress Lifeline provides an emergency link for lots of people, such as:
- People who live alone
- Individuals who are recovering at home after being in hospital
- People at risk of falls
- Vulnerable adults who want to maintain an independent lifestyle
- Adults with disabilities wanting to maintain their independence
- Individuals suffering the distress of harassment or bogus callers
- People at risk of domestic abuse.
As well as providing the personal alarm pendant, we can also support you with our range of Telecare sensors. These automatically alert us to potentially dangerous situations including:
- Flooding from overflowing sinks and baths
- Fire risk from unattended cookers
- Gas leaks, smoke and unsafe levels of carbon monoxide
- Epileptic seizures
- Leaving the home
- Doors that are left open
- Extreme heat or cold
- Getting up in the night
- Periods of inactivity.
Our emergency response and lifting service provides additional peace of mind if you do not have family or a carer living nearby. In the event of an emergency our round-the-clock service will attend your home to give assistance.
KeySafe emergency key access is a quick and easy way for family, friends, care workers, and the emergency services to gain access to your home in the event of an emergency when it may not be possible for you to open the door.
Peace of mind 4 carers - We work with Lancashire County Council to provide a free service for carers who may be concerned about who will look after the people they care for if something unexpected happens to them.

In addition to the round the clock remote assistance from our team in the control centre, we also provide an optional emergency response service,where a member of our emergency mobile response team can attend the property in person in an emergency.

You can press the button anytime you feel like you need help or reassurance. There will always be someone to answer your call at 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
We would rather you raised the alarm and didn’t need help rather than the other way around.
If you press the button by mistake, simply explain to the operator that it was an accident.
We recommend that you wear the pendant when you are anywhere in your house and garden.
The pendant can be worn in bed but if you prefer not to then remember to leave it within easy reach, for example on the bedside table.
The pendant is waterproof and can be worn in the shower.
You can raise the alarm with your pendant anywhere in your home and garden up to 50 metres (about 160 ft) from the unit.
If you cannot hear the operator or they are unable to hear you, the operator will take the appropriate action to get help to you.
You can choose an additional round-the-clock service provided by our emergency home response team.
In the event of an emergency, they will attend your home and if the emergency services are required they will stay with you until they arrive.
We are able to supply specialist sensors such as sounder beacons, lights or vibrating pillow alerts.
There is no minimum contract.
Progress Lifeline can be used to provide short-term peace of mind, for instance, whilst recovering from illness, or long-term comfort and independence to anyone who may be at risk in their home.
The Progress Lifeline service is offered as a rental package, which includes the provision of the Progress Lifeline unit, pendant, 24 hour cover by the Response Centre and maintenance of the unit and pendant.
The cost is £3.60 per week with an free installation at your home.
The service may also be available for free or at a reduced cost for those people in receipt of certain benefits.
